Is
belief enough for salvation?
Yahshua
Mashiach once told a man, “If
you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes”
Mk.9:23. A person rarely
will obtain that which they believe it is impossible for them to get or
do. Belief in the
possibility of something must precede its fulfillment.
Without positive thinking a person will be limited in what he can
accomplish in this world. We
serve an Almighty Deity who loves to do good to His created beings.
If we will believe in His power and goodness to us, He will give
us the desires of our heart, Ps. 37:4.
He has told us to “open wide your mouth, and I will fill it”
Ps.81:10.
When
the man Abram was above seventy-five years, YHWH appeared to him and
told Abram that he would have a son and that his descendants would be as
the stars of heaven, and Abram believed Yahweh, “and
He counted it to him for righteousness.”Gen. 15:6
Disbelief would have shown distrust of Yahweh to keep His Word.
Disbelief is suggesting that YHWH might be lieing.
There cannot be unity between two individuals if they do not have
faith and trust in each other.
Yahshua
said, “Truly, truly, I say unto
you, he that hears My word, and believes on Him that sent Me, has
everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but has
passed from death unto life.” John 5:24.
If an individual can simply open his mind and accept Yahweh as
the Righteous, Just, Creator and Sustainer of all, at that moment he has
found acceptance with the Almighty.
Belief in Yahweh as the true Elohim is the prerequisite for
obtaining eternal life. Some
people have complicated views as to how to obtain salvation but it is
really as simple as belief or trust in our Almighty Creator.
This is the starting point.
Now
the Apostle Yacob(James) said, ”You
believe that there is one Eloah; thou
doest well: the devils also
believe, and tremble.” So
we see that a mere mental, intellectual recognition of Yahweh as Elohim
is not enough to please Yahweh. The
Apostle Yacob continues, “But
will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21Was
not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Yitzchak
his son upon the altar? 22See you how
faith wrought with his works, and by
works was faith made perfect? 23And
the scripture was fulfilled which says,
Abraham believed Elohim, and it was imputed unto him for
righteousness: and he was called the Friend of Elohim.”
So true faith, or belief, goes beyond mental activity to physical
activity. When YHWH asked
Abraham to offer his only son as a sacrifice, his belief and trust was
tested, but Abraham took the appropriate action of obedience as an
outward expression of his inward belief.
Yahweh provided a substitute so that his son Yitzchak did not
have to die that day, likewise YHWH has provided a substitute for us
today, so that mankind does not have to die an eternal death;
but yet Abraham was willing to do whatever YHWH required.
Abraham was willing to give up his own son to obey YHWH’s
command, so YHWH was willing to give up His only Son to fulfill the
claims of His Law upon man; for
Elohim so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that
whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”
Jn. 3:16. As Abraham was
tested in his love to Yahweh, so Yahweh was tested in His love for
mankind. Our faith and love
for Yahweh will also be tested.
Yahshua
said, “this is the work of
Elohim, that you believe on Him whom He has sent” Jn. 6:29.
Can we open our minds today and believe on the One who was sent
to die for mankind’s transgressions of Yahweh laws?
The prophet Isaiah said, “We
all like sheep have gone astray; …
and Yahweh has laid on Him the iniquity of us all...” Isa. 53.
If we can do this work of belief, we have passed the test, and
there is a great reward awaiting us.
Yahshua said, “You
believe in Elohim believe also in Me, in My Fathers house are many
mansions:… I go to prepare
a place for you:…”
So
true belief is enough for salvation, if it is a belief that truly
accepts Yahweh and His Son Yahshua for who They are and leads one to
obey that which They have commanded.
The only way to know whether ones belief is genuine or not, is
whether they are careful to obey all they know of Yahweh’s revealed
will. Moshe said, “man
does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out
of the mouth of Yahweh does man live.” Dt. 8:3
Yahweh has promised to write His law on our heart and mind if we
will simply allow Him. He
has promised, “I will put my law
in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts;.. and I will
remember their sin no more”Jer.31:33,34.
This promise is for us today if we will accept it…. “If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes”.
Yahweh
has given many promises of great reward if we will pass the test of
belief and walk in obedience to him.
The apostle John said, “Blessed
are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree
of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Rev.
22:14KJV If we really
believe that Yahweh will give eternal life and a beautiful mansion to
the obedient; then we will
make any adjustment or sacrifice necessary in our lives to see that His
commandments are strictly obeyed. If
we will make a covenant of sacrifice to serve Yahweh first in all
things, then we have a true saving belief that will receive of all the
power and goodness of Yahweh El Shaddai, Ps. 50:5.
Premarital
sex and its effect upon students
In
a study reported in the magazine the Philadelphia Trumpet(Church of God,
Edmond, Oklahoma, USA), March 2007, it stated that at least 80% of
unmarried American college students are sexually active.
What has been the result upon their physical, mental, social and
scholastic health?
Sexually
active college students have lower grade-point averages and seek
counseling more often than non-sexually active students.
Twenty-five percent of sexually active teens contract a sexual
disease. Sexually active
teenage girls are over three times more likely to feel depressed and
about three times more likely to attempt suicide.
Teenage boys are eight times more likely to attempt
suicide if they are sexually active.
Sexually active high school(9th-12th class) students are 50
percent more likely to drop out of school and 60 percent more likely to
be expelled because of bad behavior.
A sexually active high school student is also only half as likely
to graduate from college.
The
apostle Paul counseled, “Flee from sexual immorality. All other
sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins
against his own body.” ICor. 6:18
