Who
made this world and all that is therein, and what is the way of peace
for all mankind?
To
answer these questions I would like to engage your attention upon a
simple topic for a few moments.
All
nations of the world observe seven days in the week.
Also,
whenever we look in ancient civilizations they have had seven days in
the weekly cycle. Why is it that all people of the world have seven
days in the week?
A
day is determined by the rotation of the earth on its axis; taking twenty-four
hours.
A
month has its origin in the cycle of the moon around the earth; taking
twenty-nine to thirty days.
A
year is determined by the orbit of the earth and the moon around the
Sun; taking 365 and 1/4 days.
But
what is it that determines the seven day week?
There
is only one place in the world to find the answer to this question.
And that place is in the Ancient Hebrew Scriptures, known as the Torah.
About 650 years ago these Hebrew Scriptures were translated into English,
by a man named John Wycliff, and are known as the Old Testament in English
versions of the present day Bible. In the first two chapters of the
Old Testament Scriptures it tells us that the Almighty Creator, named
Yahweh, created the world, and all that is therein, in six days, and
that He made the seventh day a holy day of rest, because He ceased from
His work on that day.
This,
my friend, is the origin of the seven day week. This seven day cycle
was passed down from father to son, down through the ages, since the
creation of mankind, and thus it remains with us till today.
The
seven day week is a memorial to all people, of planet Earth being created
by Yahweh Almighty.
